Responsibilities of QA Lead

A Test lead plays multiple role depending on the organization , project and the team size .It keeps varying but I tried to least most common task QA lead would perform.

  1. Preparing Test Plan which serves as a guide for entire testing process.
  2. Overall Testing Strategy, it may be functional , Automated or Performance based and how to balance them on specific projects
  3. Review the Test Scenarios/ Test Cases created by team members.
  4. Oversee and co-ordinate the execution of tests. Keep performing sanity test from users’ perspective to gain the confidence on application.
  5. Write Automated Scripts, review code and execute scripts.
  6. Setup or co-ordinate to have the Test Environment ready.
  7.  Track and manage the defects which includes prioritizing, assigning, and monitoring defect resolution.
  8. Maintain effective and honest communication with project stakeholders, including developers, product managers, and business analysts, to ensure alignment and transparency regarding the testing process and results.
  9. Promote and implement best practices, process improvements, and quality standards within the QA team and across the organization.
  10. Prepare test reports that provide insights into the testing progress, test results, and quality metrics. This includes making recommendations for release or further testing.

Final Words:

The QA Lead plays a crucial role in assuring the quality of the software or product, and their leadership and coordination skills are essential for a successful testing process.
